Jewel-eyed Monkey

A rare Schuco monkey with “sparkling eyes” c. 1925
made from orange-brown mohair
faded and loved in places
His hands, feet and ears are made from felt.
Right hand exposing the inner wire,
both feet with slight damage.
Attached to his chest is a remnant of the string that held his ID tag
He measures 20cm in sitting position.
Standing he would be approx. 26cm, but his leg joints are stuck and
I did not want to force them to move.
So he will be sold as “in sitting position”
In 1925 Schuco introduced the brilliant cut glass eyes as novelty
Schuco animals with these jewel-eyes could be obtained by special order only!
That is why they are very hard to find.
Monkey has the “yes-no” mechanism, which works well.
